Read moreWomen represent 60 percent of all aged Social Security beneficiaries, and 72 percent of beneficiaries age 85 and older are women. The Social Security Administration has now created a Web site that specifically addresses the concerns of women.
On the "For Women" Web site, women can find basic information or learn about available resources on such issues as what happens when a woman's marital status changes, the rights of a divorced wife, how to become a "representative payee" for aging parents, and the rights of widows. There are also links to other federal Web sites for women, such as the Department of Labor's "Women's Bureau" and the Department of Health and Human Services' "Women's Health."
