Will Medicaid Pay for Mom's Home Care?

  • December 9th, 2014
My mom is being told that she needs 24-hour in-home care. She has never applied for Medicaid but she does not have the money to pay for long-term home care. What are her options?

This is a huge question and varies significantly from state to state. Some states have generous benefits for home care under Medicaid and some have almost none. Your mother may need to move to assisted living or a nursing home depending on the level of care required. I strongly recommend that your mother and her family consult with a local elder law attorney.
