Read moreNursing homes can’t just kick out their difficult residents. They need to do what they can to modify their behavior and they need to find a safe alternative. I’d recommend four possible sources for help: First, see if there’s a nursing home ombudsperson who can intervene. Second, go to the website of the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care (www.theconsumervoice.org) to see what resources they provide. Third, bring in a private geriatric care manager to intervene and work with the facility. Fourth, hire a local elder law attorney to protect your mother’s rights. Good luck.
