Can the bank charge me for documents that are required for my elderly mom to qualify for Medicaid benefits?

It depends on state law. Generally, banks can charge for this service. But some states have passed laws preventing banks from charging Medicaid applicants. We recommend checking with the Medicaid agency itself to see if your state has any protections for applicants.
