The Elder Law & Life Care Planning Center

I received my bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Presbyterian College and received my Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Charlotte School of Law. I am currently licensed to practice in South Carolina, North Carolina, United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and the United States Tax Court.

Prior to joining the Elder Law & Life Care Planning Center, I worked as an attorney in Charlotte, where I gained experience in the field of Tax Resolution. I negotiated installment agreements, settlements, and the like with the IRS and the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Within the past year, my family was hit hard with the loss of my grandfather. Leading up the time of his passing, I personally saw what a burden it can be for your family to be caught off guard by a sudden decline in health.

This is especially difficult when you have a family member has a medical condition that affects mental processes, like my late grandfather who had dementia. When you have family members with medical concerns, it makes the life planning process that much more difficult. Depending on the individual, they may not want to share this disability or know how to address the disability. This can lead to misunderstandings among family members.

Seeing my family interact with my grandfather’s dementia showed me the importance of being proactive. It cemented for me, my desire to help other families in similar positions so they will be adequately prepared and not have to experience some of the pitfalls that can occur when plans are not properly made.
