Hello.  I am happy you're here, thinking about Elder Law issues and searching for answers.  I am dedicated to helping seniors and their families get the care they need while protecting and preserving the assets they worked to accumulate.

My route to becoming an Elder Law attorney began in 1990 when I was a Certified Financial Planner.  Back then, I would speak with clients about the use of long term care insurance to preserve assets when confronted with skyrocketing nursing home costs.  But the premiums too often were unaffordable for a risk that seemed very small to so many people.  So clients instead focused on accumulating money and not taking steps to protect it.

After leaving financial planning for a management role in a Fortune 50 company, I went to law school and graduated #1 in my class.  I worked for a medium-sized firm immediately after I graduated.  Afterwards, I decided to open my own practice dedicated to Elder Law, Estate Planning, and Real Estate.

It has been a perfect return to my roots working directly with clients on their financial and healthcare matters.  People still need to address how to navigate the costs of aging and now I'm coming at it from a legal strategy rather than an insurance strategy.  I can now develop proactive or emergency plans for preserving the wealth people have worked so hard to earn.  Doing so brings me true joy!

Firm Description

As an Elder Law attorney, I can help clients in several ways:

  1. Estate Planning: By creating comprehensive estate plans, clients can ensure that their wishes regarding their assets, medical care, and the distribution of their estate are followed. This provides peace of mind, knowing that their affairs are in order and that their loved ones will be taken care of according to their intentions.

  2. Medicaid and Long-Term Care Planning: I can help clients navigate the complex Medicaid system and protect their assets while obtaining necessary long-term care benefits. This prevents the depletion of savings and preserves assets for the client's needs and the potential inheritance of their heirs.

  3. Guardianship and Conservatorship: In situations where a senior is incapacitated and unable to make decisions, the appointment of a guardian or conservator ensures that their best interests are represented, and their finances and healthcare are managed appropriately.

  4. Social Security and Retirement Benefits: Optimizing Social Security and retirement benefits helps seniors maximize their income during retirement, providing financial security and a better quality of life.

  5. Asset Protection: By employing asset protection strategies, clients can shield their assets from potential risks, preserving their wealth for their needs and desires, rather than losing it to unforeseen circumstances.

  6. Probate and Estate Administration: Efficient probate and estate administration processes facilitate the smooth transfer of assets to beneficiaries, minimizing potential disputes and ensuring that the deceased person's wishes are fulfilled.

  7. Special Needs Planning: Special needs planning enables seniors with disabilities to maintain their eligibility for essential government benefits while still having access to additional resources to enhance their quality of life.

In summary, I work to provide peace of mind, financial security, and protection of rights for seniors and their families.
