Older Americans are faced with complex decisions involving retirement, estate planning and long-term care. Elder law protects older Americans from the vulnerabilities associated with aging, including long-term care planning and simple and complex wills, advance directives and living trusts, including Medicaid asset protection and nursing home admissions. While no one can predict how long they will live, a well-planned estate with gifting provisions translates to a less stressful experience for your survivors. Even a simple will or survivorship deed could save your loved ones thousands in costly probate fees. It's all in the details: for example, careful consideration of the way property is titled affects probate, Medicaid, tax and estate planning. While the well being of our loved ones is a tough subject, planning ahead means a higher quality of life.
