Janice Masi Describes Groundbreaking CareGiver Homes Program as a Community Alternative for Long-Term Care

At Margolis & Associates' May First-Monday Lunch, CareGiver Homes of Massachusetts' Executive Director Janice A. Masi, provided an in-depth look at the CareGiver Homes program under which MassHealth will pay a tax-free stipend to live-in caregivers, including certain family members of the person receiving care.

CareGiver Homes monitors the care provided, assists in finding other available services, and pays the caregiver.  Payment totals either about $6,000 or $18,000 a year depending on the level of care needed.  This is an ideal income supplement for family members who have given up work to care for frail or ailing parents, grandparents or other relatives.
