  • Margolis & Associates Introduces Annual Maintenance Plan

Have you ever wondered whether your estate plan is up-to-date? Whether it takes into account your new circumstances or changes in the law?

Margolis & Associates has introduced an annual maintenance plan that is available free of charge to any client for whom the firm has prepared their estate plan – meaning a will, trust, durable power of attorney, or health care proxy.

Simply give us a call (at 617/267-9700) or send us an e-mail to rsvp@margolis.com and we will send you a short questionnaire. Upon receipt of the questionnaire, we will review your answers, the estate planning documents that we prepared for you, and we will let you know whether any changes in your estate plan are warranted.

This service is only available to clients of Margolis & Associates and will be provided at no charge at the beginning of each calendar year. Just let us know that you want to sign up for the Margolis & Associates Maintenance Plan.

The Gerontology Institute at UMASS Publishes Two Reports on Elder Economic Security

The Gerontology Institute at the University of Massachusetts recently published The Elder Economic Security Standard for the Boston Area, to provide a realistic measure on how much it really cost for older adults (aged 65+) to live independently, taking into account differing factors such as health, life circumstances, family status, and geography.

The Gerontology Insitute has partnered with The Economic Security Initiative (EESI) at Wider Opportunities for Women, a national effort that seeks to build economic security for elders, to develop and field test the Elder Economic Security Standard in the Boston area. They have recently launched The Elder Economic Security Initiative for Massachusetts.

The Commonwealth Proposes "Community First" Demonstration to Delay Nursing Home Admission for Seniors

The Executive Office of Health & Human Services submitted an application for a Medicaid 1115 Demonstration Proposal to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The Demonstration, titled "Community First: A Proposal for Preventing or Delaying Nursing Facility Admission", proposes to provide enhanced community-based supports to elders and adults with disabilities to prevent or delay nursing home admission.
