Althea West, LTCP, GCM, Gerontologist
Althea acts as the Elder Care Coordinator for Senior & Special Needs Solutions, LLC and is a member of the National Academy of Geriatric Care Managers. She brings a special empathy to her work beacuse of personal experience of caring for her own mom. Althea knows first hand how overwhelmed and unprepared family members feel when Mom or Dad shows signs of needing help to live safely on their own.
Althea has a Masters degree in Gerontology, teaches graduate level classes at a local university, and is co-author of a long-term care insurance training manual. She knows the complexity of eldercare and offers a comprehensive and practical perspective to clients who are faced with the challenges of helping their loved ones.
Susan Neal Pekios, MA, MSW
Susie has worked in healthcare since 1981, specializing in person centered, value based, advance care planning. With over 20 years as a hospital social worker and three years in hospice, Susie brings knowledge of the medical system's advance directives and marries it to the person's broader wishes for quality of life despite health issues and functional limitations. Her goal is identification of wishes, respect and ultimate honoring of these wishes. Susie does counseling in advance care planning as well as consumer and professional education. She holds the Consumer Education Committee Chair position on the Missouri End of Life Coalition and is the Vice President of the Gateway Alliance for Compassionate Healthcare.
