Attorney Profile

Myka Landry is a solo practitioner practicing in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, probate and elder law (including Medicaid planning). She received her J.D. from the University of Denver in 1990, and practiced in a general law practice with a heavy emphasis on litigation for about five years. She then left her practice to raise her children and work as office manager for her husband's electrical contracting business. As the kids grew up and left for college, she decided to resume her practice, taking the emphasis off of litigation. while she will still do litigation if necessary, her goal is to educate clients and help them plan so that litigation will not become necessary.

Myka became interested in her current areas of practice through personal experience. As a member of the "sandwich" generation (the generation between aging parents and young or young adult children), she has had the opportunity to experience first hand some of the issues faced by this segment of the population. Society is changing rapidly - people are living longer; there are many blended and non-traditional families; and health and long term care is becoming more expensive to obtain.

Government regulations are cumbersome and confusing and it is difficult to know what the future holds. Estate planning and elder law are designed to help reduce some of the uncertainty and provide peace of mind as to what will happen to you and your loved ones in the event of a health crisis, a disability, or upon death. Estate administration is designed to help people who have lost a loved one navigate the process of settling and distributing the estate.

Myka Landry is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, and ElderCounsel. She serves on several committees for the Trust and Estate/Elder Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association. She has also received training in Health and Elder Dispute Resolution through Mediators without Borders in Boulder, Colorado. She focuses on personal attention and service and often meets clients outside of regular working hours in order to better accomodate their schedules. She also meets clients at various locations, including the client's home, if desired.

Myka grew up in rural eastern Colorado and her family raised cattle and horses. Her husband came from a family of wheat farmers, also in eastern Colorado and central and western Kansas. Because of this, Myka has a passion for serving the rural and agricultural population of Colorado and is aware of the unique needs faced by these clients. She enjoys serving these clients in their communities as well as clients in Elbert, Douglas, Lincoln, El Paso and Arapahoe Counties.
