Julianna M. Malis, LL.M
Julianna M. Malis, devotes her practice to Estate Planning, Elder Law and Trust Administration and has been practicing law since 1997. She holds an advanced law degree in Taxation (LL.M) with a special emphasis in Estate Planning. She has spent her legal career protecting families. Before forming Anacapa Estate Planning & Elder Law, she helped recover hundreds of thousands of dollars for her clients who had been harmed by unscrupulous car dealers, debt collection harassment or in the manufacture of an unsafe vehicle. Her clients include seniors, young families with minor children, families with special needs children of all ages, and entrepreneurs with business considerations.
Julianna's father died in a car accident when he was 40 years old. This life-changing event made her realize at young age and as an attorney how important it is for every family to have a legal plan at all stages of life. Her philosophy of estate planning is focused on a proactive approach and that is, smart families, plan ahead. However, not every legal plan is right for every family. And, sometimes planning ahead can't happen. No matter what stage you are in, Julianna can assist you and your family with thorough care and understanding every step of the way. You will greatly benefit from working with an attorney who focuses exclusively in this field to make sure that you have a plan that is crafted specifically for your family, and your wishes.
Because quite simply, different families have different planning needs. While each is concerned with bringing order to their affairs as well as passing on their goals, values and passion for life's important matters, each family and individual has different goals and needs.
Julianna believes whole-heartedly that families of modest means and the great middle class need estate planning just as much as wealthy families. Families very much like her own, need to protect their hard-earned assets, provide for their physical and financial concerns, while looking to their long term care and ensure their children's inheritance. While more affluent families need a trusted advisor to help them use the tax laws to their maximum advantage as well as assist with the stewardship of the wealth and the responsibilities they wish to pass on to their family members. And, families with a special needs loved one must concern themselves with guardianship, government benefits and ensuring their loved one is supported for a lifetime. There are also times when loved one's health is failing and crisis planning must be done right away.
Julianna will find the right path for you and your family to give you the best outcome for your situation. She will let you know what actions you should take now to reach your goals and for peace of mind. Or if there's nothing you need to do right now, she'll tell you that too.
She is a member of the State Bar of California, Santa Barbara County Bar Association, San Luis Obispo County Bar Association, WealthCounsel, National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, and Academy of Special Needs Planners. As a proud Army wife, Julianna is also an accredited attorney for the preparation and presentation of claims before the Department of Veteran's Affairs.
Aside from the practice of law, Julianna enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. The family also have one overgrown labrador retriever named Gus who aspires to be an in-house "office dog". They all enjoy hiking, camping and all the other outdoor activities the amazing California Central Coast has to offer. She promises you that when your plan is done, you'll feel at peace and you'll feel like family.
