Jane Schmidt practices Elder Law because it offers a way to help people when they need help the most. She is a Louisville-based attorney licensed in Kentucky and Georgia. She is a graduate of The College of William and Mary (B.A.), Georgia State University (M.B.A.), and Georgia Law School (J.D.)
Jane focuses her practice on Elder Law - helping seniors save money with Veteran's Benefits and careful estate planning to avoid the extremely high cost of nursing home care. She also prepares wills and other Estate Planning documents such as the Power of Attorney and Living Wills.
Formerly, she worked as an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission helping to protect Americans from losing money to scam artists. Prior to that, Jane worked as a marketing specialist for Computer Communcations Specialists and as a finance assistant for Hart Marx in Atlanta.
Jane is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association's Elder Law Section as well as Elder Counsel, Wealth Counsel, and Elder Law Answers. She is accredited by the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs to assist veterans with claims filing and appeals.
Jane is a trained Stephen Minister, serves tea to women with cancer through the Sterling Tea Ministry, and has been a Girl Scout Leader and volunteer for over ten years. She is married to Dr. William Schmidt. Together they have three beautiful children and a yellow lab.
