Gregory S. French is one of 74 attorneys nationwide who have been elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the highest honor that NAELA bestows upon elder law attorneys. He is AV-rated Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and is one of 17 Certified Elder Law Attorneys in Ohio. He has been selected as an Ohio Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters, selected as a Cincy Leading Lawyer by Cincy Magazine, and is accredited to represent veterans benefit claimants by the Veterans Administration. He also has been awarded the Paul Lichterman Award for Outstanding Achievement in Legal Services for Older Americans, presented annually to one individual across the country who has made enduring contributions to the field of law and aging. Gregory S. French is President-Elect of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and has chaired its Long-Range Planning, Public Policy, and Continuing Legal Education Program Committees. Currently, he chairs NAELA's Professionalism and Ethics Committee. He is an original member of the National Elder Law Foundation's Board of Certification and helped the Board to develop its American Bar Association accredited program to certify qualified attorneys as elder law attorneys. In addition to practicing Elder Law, Gregory S. French helps persons with special needs to meet their care and financial needs and to maximize their quality of life. He is one of three Ohio attorneys who have been invited to join the Special Needs Alliance, the leading association of attorneys across the United States who advocate on behalf of persons with special needs. Gregory S. French helped found and chaired the Ohio State Bar Association's Elder Law Committee for three years, served on the State Bar's Special Committee on Specialization, and now is an elected member of the State Bar's Council of Delegates. He was one of six attorneys appointed to draft Ohio's model health care decision-making directives, and he also served on the blue ribbon committee appointed by the Ohio Supreme Court to implement the recommendations of the Ohio Legal Needs Study. Gregory S. French founded the Cincinnati Bar Association's Elder Law Committee and served as its Chair for four years. He also has served on the Bar Association's Ethics Committee, the Board of Trustees' Community Services Committee, and the Estate Planning and Probate Committee. Gregory S. French has spoken frequently at state and national conferences and seminars, and he often has been published in state and national legal and aging publications. He has co-authored Anderson's Ohio Elder Law Practice Manual and edited Lawyers Cooperative Publishing's Counseling the Older Client in Ohio. In addition to guiding the families of older, disabled, or injured persons and families with special needs children, he has successfully litigated numerous elder law and special needs law issues in both state and federal trial and appellate courts.
